Hello.

I use SPOT for proofing TrueType fonts. When I produce, for example, an AFM from a GPOS table via the following command

spot -tGPOS=6 myfont.ttf > myfont.afm

The file contains the glyph names as glyphname, glyph index.

KPX A@36 T@55 -68

Is there a flag that will suppress the glyph index?

Thanks

Regards,
Bob

No, there isn't.  There is a reason for this:  for TrrueType fonts without glyph names in the post table, spot has to come up with glyph names based on the character encodings in the font, and may choose different names than other tools. Hence, having the GID in the name provides a unique and reliable reference. However, it is true that for most TrueType fonts, all the glyph names are provided, and this feature is not needed. I will add this as a request for a future version of the FDK.
